About Us!

Corn Star began with a simple idea and a whole lot of heart.

It all started in July 2022, just after I graduated high school. Over lunch with my mom, I showed her a corn roaster that was for sale in Driggs, Idaho. I thought it had serious potential, but at first… she wasn’t exactly sold on becoming business partners. Still, I convinced her to make the 4 hour, 278 mile drive with me to go check it out on July 16th. She liked it kind of but didn’t think our vehicle could even tow it. So, we drove home empty handed.

Two weeks later, on the way to a wedding in Ashton, Idaho, I convinced her to swing by one more time. The seller happened to be out there roasting corn, greasing the chain drive. He even cooked some up for us and that’s when it clicked. I told her Salt Lake didn’t have anything like this. I could see the vision. She started to see it too, and with the help of an amazing cousin.

On the way home, we bought the roaster.

And then we got hit by lightning.
Yeah, no actually. A lightning bolt struck so close it shook everything... we didn't didn't know if it hit us directly or what but the steel sprocket that powered the entire roaster fell off, scorched and twisted. A weird zig zag etch even appeared down the side of the machine. Safe to say… my mom was even less confident at that point. But we were in. We were doing this.

We started out roasting for our neighbors, learning how to perfect the cook time and temperature for both the corn and our now famous baked potatoes. Our first official event? A small drag race in Evanston, Wyoming, where we ran out of a snack shack with a whiteboard for a menu. Our second? North Ogden’s Chalk It Up festival under a simple blue canopy. No frills just fire roasted corn, buttery potatoes, and a dream.

Since then, we’ve grown from the ground up.

Every step of the way, we’ve reinvested back into Corn Star leveling up our setup, investing in a fully custom canopy, and locking in the brand look we dreamed of from the start. In 2024, we purchased a custom built food trailer with a built in corn roaster, a removable hitch, and a layout made specifically for fairs and carnivals. And now in 2025, you’ll see us running two full setups at major events across Utah.
